Do people with more musical experience have better cognitive abilities?
Many studies have looked at whether musical training, musical ability, and other musical experiences improve executive functioning or cognitive abilities. Through two correlational studies, we investigate whether musical experience is associated with improved executive functioning in a local context. We make use of a comprehensive battery of nine tasks measuring executive functioning and conduct latent variable analyses to address previous limitations in the literature.
